Referral Pathway & What to Expect
1 Scheduling
For urgent cases, please initiate contact by phone. For non-urgent cases, submit an online referral. Please provide us with:
- Referral Form: Submitted online (including a full clinical history).
- Imaging: Submit radiographs as raw DICOM files via our Upload Portal or share via your Cloud PACS.
- Client Forms: It is helpful if the pet owner completes the Consultation Questionnaire prior to their appointment.
2 Consultation & Admission
Once referred, our reception team will arrange a consultation with the client at our hospital. To streamline their visit and avoid repeating tests, please ensure we have:
- Recent Bloodwork: Please forward any pre-anaesthetic or diagnostic blood panels performed at your clinic recently.
- Current Medications: A complete list of all medications the patient is currently receiving, particularly NSAIDs or steroids.
3 Surgery & Care
Following consultation, patients admitted for procedures will be managed entirely by our orthopaedic surgical team. We will keep you updated on the patient's progress and surgical outcomes.
Patients benefit from our state-of-the-art surgical suites, advanced imaging equipment, and dedicated recovery wards. Our highly trained veterinary nursing team closely monitors all patients throughout anaesthesia, pain management, and their post-operative hospitalisation.
4 Communication & Rechecks
Clinical history including a discharge summary and surgical report will be sent to your clinic when the patient goes home. While we generally perform follow-up evaluations at our hospital, we often collaborate with primary care clinics for patients travelling from out of town.
- Shared Care Radiographs: If you are performing follow-up radiographs for a remote patient, please replicate the positioning of our immediate post-operative imaging as accurately as possible.
- Submission: Submit any follow-up radiographs alongside the Recheck Form for Dr. Tonzing to review.
- Owner Input: If an owner contacts your clinic with concerns about their pet's recovery, please encourage them to complete the Patient Progress Form or call our hospital directly.
